You can transform the viewing experience of your PDF by adding graphic embellishments and consistent page numbering. This is beneficial when you want to use colors or logo that go with your brand or to add uniform page numbering. On the left is the document or starting with it has no header and no color on the page will transform it to look like the file on the right. Using a few simple commands to follow along, open the Altura Technology Employee Handbook.pdf file in the samples. Let’s start by adding some color and a logo to each page after the cover page, which we can do in the edit PDF tool. Select background add underneath the more dropdown, and then we’re going to go ahead and move the preview to page two. Under the Page Range Options. Select pages 2 to 26 so we don’t accidentally update the cover page. In the source section you can add a color or apply another file to the page. We’ll select file and browse to select the background graphic PDF from the sample files. You can get really creative at this point because you can apply a photo icon or even hyperlinks to spruce up your page. You can also turn off printing for the image so you don’t use too much printer toner if someone prints it. You can also save your settings to reuse on other files and apply the settings to multiple files at once. Next, we’ll use the header and Footer Command to create a newly styled footer. Again, the preview window allows you to align the new footer to the same location as the previous. You can choose any system font size and color in the font section of the dialog will add text to the left footer and then in the middle will insert a page number for auto numbering. And on the right will add revision information. Under page number format, we’ll start the numbering again on page two and under page range options will number 2 to 26 again. As you can see in the preview window, the new footer content is lower than the previous, so we’ll adjust the bottom margin as well. Up at the top, if you want to use this new numbering style on multiple files, just select save settings and give it a name at the bottom of the dialog. Notice that you can apply the setting to multiple files at once, just like we could with the ADD background tool. Once you select okay, you can see how the PDF has been completely transformed for much better viewing and branding experience.
